Marino Station
Translink have recently undertaken a project to upgrade the ramp access and associated lighting enhancements from Marino Station Road to the Bangor-bound platform, which reopened in June 2025.
While passengers welcomed the recent construction of wheelchair access to the station sadly there was insufficient engagement with passengers and local residents, prior to the construction, in regard to the overall appearance of the final design. As a result, the concrete structure topped with high fencing, is not all in keeping with this historic station which was one of the original Garden Stations first opened in 1870, so called because of the pride taken in the flower beds created by the local station masters at that time.

In order to persuade Translink to make some redress to the damage done to the station, a group of local residents and passengers approached Translink with a proposal to replace some of the mature planting and to create a permanent piece artwork to recognise and celebrate the history of the station. Since then, they have been working with a professional mosaic artist on a floral design in mosaic, which they feel would be appropriate in view of the history of the station. They are currently talking to Translink about sourcing funding for this.
